Welcome

For many years, Brothers United (BU) has been working to enhance the health and wellness of our community, which includes those who are gay, bisexual, transgender, and the people who live and work in our neighborhoods.  Brothers United provides high quality, comprehensive prevention and service programs in a welcoming environment and seeks to improve the overall health of the Indianapolis community, through education and training, outreach and advocacy, prevention and research.

Brothers United provides high quality, comprehensive prevention and care programs in a welcoming environment to residents living in Indianapolis, Indiana, Marion County regardless of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, national origin, or disability. Today, Brothers United accomplishes its mission through a variety of prevention education programs; support and discussion groups and training workshops.

Brothers United offers a wide range of culturally appropriate and acceptable programmatic supports that reflect the needs and interests of our community. Programs are designed to strengthen Brothers United's impact on both an individual and societal level and is accomplished through education, prevention and supportive services.

In relationships, sometimes we believe we’re in love very quickly.  To prove our love we sometimes believe we have to have unprotected sex.  That’s not true! Love doesn’t require unprotected sex.  Proving love means taking time to get to know your partner, understanding what monogamy really means for both of you, and waiting for a long term commitment before giving it up.  Love means protecting each other’s life & health.
